King Bedspread - Queen Bedspreads
Size up your bed! It's the first step you need to take before buying that luxurious King bedspread you've been eyeing! Measure your mattress width, length, and depth, as well as the height of your bed from the floor to top of the mattress – all of those numbers will have a bearing on your selection of the appropriately sized bedding.
A wide selection of twin, full, full/queen and king/California king bedspreads are available online and at local bedding outlets and department stores. Remember, though, sizes within those standard designations will vary, so make sure when you buy that expensive king bedspread it is big enough to fit across your mattress and hang down evenly to the floor on all three sides.
If you need an overall cover for one of the new extra-deep mattresses and your old king bedspread falls short, look for sources that advertise "oversize bedspreads." Choices in fabrics, colors and patterns may be limited in that size, however. A custom-size bedspread is always an option, and many specialty bedding shops online and locally offer a customer order service.
Coverlets are usually the same weight bedcovering as a bed spread (as opposed to a quilt or comforter), but are smaller width and length-wise, and generally used in conjunction with a bed skirt. Extend the life of your bedding by using a coverlet and bedskirt in the spring and summer, and a bedspread in the fall and winter.
