Robe Size - Robe Sizes From Petite to Plus
Understanding robe sizes is the key to finding a robe that fits you well. A robe that is too big is cumbersome, while one that is too small makes you look like a 13 year old after a growth spurt.
The one size fits all theory doesn't work when it comes to robe sizes . However, finding the right size for you is really quite easy. Most manufacturers separate their robes into three areas; men's, women's and children's. Then, within each group you will have the selection of small, medium and large. But there is still more to robe sizes .
Because each manufacturer's idea of small, medium and large varies slightly, try on several sizes to see which fits the best. If ordering online or through a catalog , take a look at the size chart. On there you will probably find the sizes broken down by weight and height.
Also look at the dimensions of the robe. Check for robe length and sleeve length. They are important factors in the way the robe will fit you and the style it will have.
Not all robe manufacturers carry petite robe sizes. If they do not, don't despair. Simply choose a bath robe with a shorter length and shorter arms. If you are handy with the sewing machine, or even a needle and thread, you can easily hem the arms and bottom of any robe you like.
Plus or women's robe sizes can be a little trickier to find. A good place to look for them is in a plus or women's size store. If, however, you are not happy with the selection, you can always purchase a unisex style in a man's size. No one will be the wiser and you will have a much more comfortable fit.
Lastly, keep in mind that the fit of a robe is much different then the fit of a suite or other tailored piece of clothing. There is much leeway either way when it comes to what each individual considers a comfortable robe. If it feels good on, it is right for you.
