Best Dental Discount Plans and Participating Dentists

Dental discount plans and participating dentists vary from state to state. Your town may have a dentist nearby, or you may need to travel hours to find a dentist that accepts your dental discount plan. Before purchasing any plan, it's best to have an idea of how far you are willing to travel.

If you have a dentist you already see and love, you should make sure that office accepts dental discount plans. Some times, dental discount plans' participating dentists are newer and trying to establishing a client base. While the word of mouth recommendations may be lacking, this doesn't mean that the dentists do not offer outstanding service. You're more than welcome to go visit the office and be introduced to the staff before making a final decision.

Limitations in Certain Areas

There are a limited number of dentists in some states when it comes to dental discount plans and participating dentists. For example, if you live in Vermont, Franklin county residents must head south to Burlington or north to Richford to find three participating dentists. Only one specialist, an oral surgeon, shows up as accepting dental discount plans leaving you stuck if you need special dental treatments.

Head to Los Angeles, California and you'll find dozens of participating dentists, including specialists. But in eastern Montana, around the Miles City area, there are no dentists participating in dental discount plans within a 60 mile range.

Head Online and Search for Dental Discount Plans and Participating Dentists

Sites like DentalPlans.com make it easy to search for plans available in your specific area. You can also search for dentists participating in dental discount plans at the same time. Do this before you enroll to make sure you will have the coverage you need.

In addition, once you've found a list of dentists, make sure they are still participating in the dental discount plan. While they may have recently dropped out of a plan, their information may still show up on websites. If you fail to check and they no longer accept the discount card, you'll wind up paying for the entire bill out of your own pocket.
