Fake plant - Fake plants can look better than the real thing
A quality fake plant will instantly add life and warmth to your house. They look and feel just like live plants - but without the maintenance or the high cost.
If you are a little skeptical, you should know that Fake plants have come a long way. They are not the waxy, odd colored leaves and flowers that you may remember from your Grandmother's kitchen table. Today's fake plants are lush and natural looking, and come in every species you can think of. They are well crafted, and you would need to touch them to know they were fake plants and not live. As a matter of fact, it is not uncommon for well-intending friends to mistakenly water them. Oops!
The fact is that it is hard to get healthy growth from a live plant in today's indoor, climate controlled environments. But the fact remains that there are rooms in our homes and offices that call out for the aesthetic beauty of greenery . Studies have proven that people feel more relaxed in the natural setting created by plants and flowers. A room can be virtually transformed by only one fake house plant.
Shopping for fake plants
It is important to pay attention to the fullness of the greenery, number of leaves, flowers , buds, or whatever the case may be, when shopping for a fake indoor plant or tree. You will quickly notice that the more expensive plants are fuller and more lifelike.
Be sure to feel the leaves and get a good close look at the plant. Most fake plants look great from 10 feet away. The real test comes when you get close. Does it still look authentic from 3 inches away? Check that the material is soft, supple and without flaws. And look for signs of wear, like faded or fraying leaves.
When it comes to selecting fake plants, your own personal taste is the most important determiner. No matter what the cost, if you like the look of a particular fake plant, it is the right one for you.
Caring for your fake plant
Everlasting beauty is what you will get from your fake plant, with just a little care. Over time direct sun light will fade leaves and flowers, so don't put your fake plant directly in front of a window unless you have a shade that will diffuse the light. When you notice a little dust on the leaves, cleaning is effortless. If you can remove the fake plant from the basket, do this before cleaning. Then place about one cup of table salt in a large paper grocery bag. Depending on the size of the fake plant, you may need more or less salt. Then gently place your plant inside the paper bag, roll the top down a couple of times and then shake the bag. The salt works as an abrasive and will gently scrub the dust from the petals and leaves. Shake the plant a bit as you take it out of the paper bag to remove any excess salt. Then save the bag of salt for next time. It should last for several cleanings.
With lovely fake plants you will never again have to worry about brown and falling leaves, water damage to tables and floors or insects. Even if you don't have a green thumb, you will just enjoy the beauty of lush green plants all year round.
