Savvy brides know that silk flower arrangements, bouquets and boutonnières are the perfect alternative to costly live flowers that quickly discolor and die, often staining clothing and linens. And who wouldn't want to take home the centerpiece on the table if it were made with lovely silk flowers that would last for years?
Around the Christmas holiday, silk floral arrangements and flowers add a festive touch with bursts of color. Just a few silk poinsettias and a silk flower arrangement on the table, and your house is filled with Christmas cheer that will look as fresh and beautiful as the day you put them out. Many people like to decorate early and leave their decorations up long after Christmas. With silk flowers, that is no problem. However, a live arrangement wont last that long, and chances are a live poinsettia will have few leaves left. Consider the fact that you won't have to water your silk flowers, and you will never want live plants again.Copyright 2004-2015 S&T US LLC
Keep your silk flower arrangements looking great for years with a few easy steps. Most importantly, keep them out of direct sunlight that will fade their color. If you find that they get a little dusty through the years, cleaning them is quick and easy. Simply place about one cup of table salt in a large paper grocery bag. This will vary depending on how large or small your arrangement is. Then gently place your arrangement inside the paper bag, roll the top down a couple of times and then shake the bag. The salt works as an abrasive and will lightly scrub the dust from the petals and leaves. Gently shake the arrangement a bit as you take it out of the paper bag to remove any excess salt. Then save the bag of salt for another time. It should last for several cleanings.
