Decorative Knobs Transform you Cabinetry
What do the knobs on your cabinetry say about you? Out of date, worn or dirty knobs do not cast a flattering reflection. Don't let something as easy and inexpensive to change as knobs make you look bad. Because the fact is that they are one of the first things people notice when they walk into your kitchen or bathroom.
Even the smallest details like decorative knobs and drawer pulls can help to express your personality. But how do you put your best foot forward with cabinet knobs?
The first step is to take a good look at your cabinets. Not the kind of look you've given them for the past several years or more as you rush around your kitchen. You need to sit down and really look at them. What shape are they? What color are they? What accent colors or materials do you have in your kitchen? Is your kitchen traditional, contemporary or something in between? You will need to know all of this before you start shopping for decorative knobs.
When you start shopping around for your specialty knobs, you will quickly find that there are a limitless selection of styles, finishes, materials and designs. So where do you start? The answer will come from the time you took that good look at your cabinets. You cabinetry and room will dictate the type of decorative knobs you should be looking for. For instance, if you have a rustic kitchen you won't be looking for art deco knobs. It is all decorating common sense.
Keep in mind that your Cupboard knobs don't have to be boring. Decorative knobs should be stylish, fun, whimsical or whatever you are. If you are an elegant sort, perhaps Glass drawer pulls are what you prefer. If you love the ocean some fish would be just right. How about square knobs or some hand made pottery knobs or some vintage mother of pearl knobs? Whatever you do, don't go out and buy the same knobs that were on your cabinets. They may have been perfect in the 80's but they just can't "handle" the job now.
Quality is key when shopping for cabinet knobs. They will get a lot of use and need to be able to hold up and look good for a long time. It is better to get a high quality knob for a discount price then to buy an overpriced low-quality knob. It is not hard to find the manufacturers that produce the quality knobs, such as Travera, Amerock and Top Knobs. Your best bet, however, is to ask your local kitchen and bathroom design store. You don't have to buy from them, but they have a good knowledge of all the manufacturers. You can then shop where you want.
Now you have no excuse. Take a good look at your cabinetry today. And having no time is not an excuse. Even the Internet is a convenient way to shop for decorative knobs.
