Toro String Trimmer - Cordless Gas Line Trimmers
Yard work's a breeze with a Toro gas trimmer. Benefits to the powerful garden trimmers revolve around efficiency and ease of use. You're never restricted to the reach of cumbersome extension cords or time frames with quickly draining batteries.
Curved Shafts Versus Straight Shafts
One of the decisions you must make with a Toro gas trimmer is the shaft style. A curved shaft has a slight bend just before the trimmer head making it easier on your back. You don't need to bend and adjust the angle on uneven terrain.
However, if you have pine trees or decks where grass grows underneath, a curved shaft limits your reach. In these situations, a straight shaft provides much more reach making it easier to get into hard-to-reach spaces and eliminate grass and weeds.
The Two Toro Gas Trimmer Models and Features
Toro gas trimmers all come with a three-year limited warranty protecting the buyer against material and workmanship defects. If your trimmer fails because of faulty material or workmanship, they'll repair the trimmer free of charge.
Both Toro gas garden trimmers come with a full crank engine. The pull start is located on the back of the engine in a convenient location. The engine is designed to minimize vibration. A padded handle also helps reduce vibration and remains comfortable even after hours of use.
The Toro gas trimmers feature a dual-line bump feed spool that releases more line with a simply bump of the head. Plus, the dual-line system cuts a wider swath than other string trimmers.
Choose between the 17-inch curved shaft trimmer, model 51954, or the 18-inch straight shaft trimmer, model 51974. Engine power for the two garden trimmers is 25.4cc. The trimmers weigh under 12 pounds and meet all 50 states emissions requirements.
Maintaining Your Toro Gas Trimmer
Maintenance is an important part of a grass trimmer's warranty. Failing to properly maintain your Toro gas trimmer can void the three-year limited warranty.
You must clean the trimmer head after use to remove grassy build-up that can impede the rotation of the string trimmer spool. A stiff bristled brush works well at removing dried and caked on grass trimmings.
At the end of the season, drain or use up all the gas. Don't leave the gas in the tank where it can freeze and cause problems in the fuel lines. When spring arrives, create a new gas/oil blend and top up the tank with that fresh mixture. Check the spark plug and clean or replace it.
