Shower Head Water Filter - Filtered Shower Heads
Purchase a shower head filter and gain shiny, healthy hair and skin. Chemicals used to treat public water sources and minerals found in hard water dry the skin and hair. Color treated hair fades quickly. Your skin looks dry and may even be itchy. Your hair dries out and frizzes or split ends appear. By filtering your shower water, many of these common issues are eliminated.
Choosing a Shower Head Filter
There are dozens of shower head filters on the market making it hard to know which you should purchase. When searching, take price into consideration, but also think about the cost of use. Most shower head filter systems require you to replace the filter at least once a year. If you're spending a minimal amount of money on the shower head filter unit, but replacement filters cost hundreds, you're probably not getting the best filter for your budget.
Comparing Cost of Use for Shower Filters
One of the least expensive shower filters on the market is made by Aquasana. The AQ-4100 costs under $70, but you change the filter twice a year or every 10,000 gallons. Filters generally cost between $40 and $50, so expect to spend about $100 a year in upkeep. If you have a large family and use more water than an average household, you may end up doing more than two filter changes per year, remember to keep that in mind.
Paragon Water makes a shower water filter system that costs the same as the Aquasana, but filters are much cheaper at $20 to $30 each. The difference is that the filters must be changed every 5,000 gallons or three months and the filters do not remove THMs, VOCs or heavy metals, so you're not getting as much protection.
Jonathan Beauty Water filters effectively remove contaminants from water, including lead, making it a better filter than Aquasana. However, the filters are $50 to $60 each and the shower head filter unit is around $100 making it a pricier choice.
The Wellness Filter is better at conserving water usage making it a popular choice with those who want to cut their water bills. The shower head filter system costs over $200 and filters, changed once a year, are more than $150, so it's definitely not for those on a tight budget. However, the savings on your water bill might make it the best choice for your needs.
