Vitamin C Shower Filter - Vitashower Vit C Filters

The popularity of a Vitamin C Shower Filter is increasing in the United States. The filters use Vitamin C to neutralize chlorine and chloramines in your shower water. Most Vitamin C Shower filtration systems have a filter that houses a large block of vitamin C. The water passes over it and releases a quantity of vitamin C into the water. Depending on your views, this may or may not be a great system.

If you're into water conservation, a typical Vitamin C Shower Filter cuts the flow of your shower water to 1.5 gallons per minute. The shower will feel more like rain fall than a downpour. It will take longer to rinse soap from your hair and body, so for some you may end up using more water trying to rinse away the soap.

Benefits to Vitamin C Shower Filter Systems

One vitamin C shower filter lasts anywhere from 6 to 12 months. The more showers your family takes, the faster the vitamin C block is used up. Unlike other shower filters, the effectiveness doesn't decrease. With some water filters, as the filter fills up with contaminants, the amount of chlorine and heavy metals removed from the water decreases until the next filter change.

While many shower filter systems remove 95 to 98 percent of the chlorine, a Vitamin C Shower Filter

can remove all of the chlorine from your water.

Vitamin C is an antioxidant. Though researchers are not certain the vitamin C is readily absorbed through your pores during a shower, there is the chance that the vitamin C can help improve the health of your skin and hair.

Potential Dangers with Vitamin C Shower Filter Systems

Vitamin C alters the chemical structure of chlorine and chloramine. When chloramine is exposed to Vitamin C, the chemicals react turning the chloramine into a blend of ammonia, chloride and dehydroascorbic acid. All three are considered safe in these amounts.

When Vitamin C reacts with chlorine, the resulting products are dehydroascorbic acid and hydrochloric acid. Experts feel the levels of hydrochloric acid are minimal and won't do you any harm, but some people simply may not be willing to take that chance.
