There are a few models of Brunton binoculars with a suggested retail price under $100, but most are in the $200 to $500 range and several top out in the vicinity of $1,500. These prices are for non–electronic, non–digital, no-bells-and-whistles (but exquisitely made) binoculars.
The largest, at 10.5x43, is not super–powerful. An optional (but not cheap) 2x extension attaches to one eyepiece of most models, converting it to a spotting scope at double the magnification for a maximum of 21x on the largest models.
The company offers a limited number of models, as binoculars are not their primary business. They started out as a manufacturer of surveying equipment and now offer a range of instruments for the serious outdoor adventurer and outdoor professional. Of course, if you just want to pretend you're using their binoculars, you can go to the brunton.com web site and buy shirts and caps with their logo. You can also visit their Closeouts page for bargain prices on binoculars. You can purchase Brunton binoculars directly from the brunton.com web site, through an online dealer, or at a local store. The site provides a store locator and links to online dealers.
Brunton is now part of Silva Production A.B. of Sweden, a leading compass manufacturer.
