The angled design is preferable if you are going to be standing or if you are going to be sharing the view with others.
Range Of Magnification. Most spotting scopes have eyepieces with magnification in the range of 20x to 60x. Much higher magnification limits the field of view and can result in a shaky image, even with a tripod. Many spotting scope eyepieces have a zoom feature.
