Cat Pet Health Insurance - Vet Insurance for Cats

Discover what cat pet health insurance will cover and what it won't. Medical pet insurance is beneficial to any cat owner. It can help cut vet bills towards vaccinations, spays/neuters and emergency care. However, it's important to make sure the policy you choose isn't ignoring conditions prevalent to cats, including UTIs and diabetes.

When you purchase cat pet health insurance, you'll need to pick the level of coverage you want, along with the deductible you're willing to pay. These two factors will determine the affordability of your policy.

VPI Cat Pet Health Insurance Coverage

VPI sells medical pet insurance for cats. Basic coverage pays for testing and treatments for accidents and illnesses, including some cancer coverage. If you add CareGuard, vaccinations, heartworm and flea prevention are also covered. With CareGuard Premier, urinary tract tests, dental care and spay/neuter procedures will be covered.

VPI pet health insurance does not cover pre-existing or hereditary conditions. The medical pet insurance also does not cover:

  • Anterior cruciate ligament tears or ruptures for the first 12 months of the policy
  • Behavioral issues
  • Blood disorders
  • Collapsed trachea
  • Elective surgeries
  • Glaucoma
  • Histiocytosis
  • Hormonal dermatosis
  • Optional procedures (like declawing)
  • Orthodontics
  • Parasite treatment or diagnosis
  • Pregnancy
  • Prescription diets
  • Vaccine preventable diseases

Purina Care Pet Health Insurance Coverage

Purina Care cat health insurance covers a myriad of conditions and diseases. There are two levels of pet insurance you can purchase. One does not cover preventative care, while the other does. The preventative care plan does pay for a spay or neuter. Things that are not covered include:

  • Accidents that occur within three days of coverage
  • Baths and grooming
  • Behavior training
  • Cosmetic or elective procedures, including declawing
  • Holistic veterinary care
  • Illnesses that occur within fifteen days of coverage
  • Injuries caused intentionally
  • Pre-existing conditions
  • Pregnancy
  • Prescription diets
  • Vitamin and mineral supplements

There are other conditions and ailments not covered, but you must look at the policy for a complete list. Some items on an overall list may be covered if you purchase the higher-priced policy, so the company provides you with a full list when you choose your preferred pet insurance policy.
