Pets Best Pet Health Insurance - Vet Insurance for Pets

Pets Best insurance knows how pet owners care for their pets. Founded by a veterinarian, Pets Best pet insurance came about after Dr. Stephens had to euthanize an animal because the pet's owner simply couldn't afford the required treatments. Determined that pet owners should have another option to prevent financially-driven euthanasia procedures, Dr. Stephens contacted General Fire and Casualty insurance to come up with medical pet insurance plans.

Imagine finding out your young cat has a bladder issue that requires an $8,000 surgery. Could you afford the care this cat needs to live a long, happy life? Few people can come up with $8,000 instantly and they're forced to have their beloved pet euthanized. With pet insurance, you cover the deductible and usually ten or twenty percent of the bill, and medical pet insurance pays for the rest. With an $8,000 surgery, you'd end up paying $1,600 and the insurer would cover the remaining $6,400. That's a huge difference.

What Pets Best Insurance Covers

There are a few different policies from which you can choose.

  • Pets Basic
  • Pets First
  • Pets Premier

Opting for a basic pet insurance plan provides you with coverage in case of accidents or unexpected injuries. Coverage included with most Pets Best insurance plans includes:

  • Acupuncture
  • Dermatology
  • Diagnostics
  • Emergency care
  • Eye care
  • Holistic treatments
  • Hospitalization
  • Prescription medications
  • Required treatments
  • Surgery
  • X-rays and other scans
  • Tests

If you add a wellness rider, yearly exams, including vaccines and teeth cleanings, are also covered. You can also add riders for spay or neuter surgeries.

No Annual Limits

Unlike other pet health insurance companies, there are no annual limits with Pets Best insurance. Your pet gets the care he needs regardless of maximum limits. You do have a per-incident limit of up to $14,000.

Learn What Pets Best Insurance Cannot Cover

Like any pet insurance, there are things that Pets Best insurance simply cannot cover. This includes pre-existing conditions. Coverage starts three days after you enroll for accidents and 14 days for routine check-ups and illness. Any condition that occurs before those time frames is considered pre-existing.

Parasites, preventable diseases and elective surgeries, like tail docking, are not covered. Pregnancy, nutritional supplements and prescription diets are not covered. Dental care is only provided if you have the BestWellness rider or if the tooth injury occurred as a result of an accident.

Genetic conditions are only covered if your pet is enrolled before his second birthday. Even then, genetic conditions receive limited coverage. In addition, any cruciate ligament injury is covered only if you've had the policy for the past twelve months.
