Dave Smith Mopho Desktop Synthesizer Module
The Mopho desktop synthesizer module by Dave Smith is a super powerful, compact yet affordable monophonic analog synth.
The voice architecture of this bad little Mopho is identical to a single voice of the Prophet ’08, but featuring a couple unique little twists. Two added sub-octave generators (one per oscillator) give this synth more girth and crushing bass and an audio input allows you to process external audio and mix the Mopho’s own output back in pre-filter for feedback effects ranging from subtle distortion to full-blown skronk.
The Mopho has this little button in the bottom right corner that says “push it.” You know what happens when you “push it”, don’t you? Well, for the Mopho it serves as a manual trigger that lets you play a specific note or latch notes and sequences as well as step through a sequence to play short melodic lines without a keyboard.
Of course, the Morpho loves getting paired up with MIDI keyboard controllers and external sequencers for even more versatility. Fully programmable, the Mopho allows all parameters to be tweaked right from the intuitive front panel. Four Assignable Parameters controls are assignable per program for optimal performance control in real-time and free editor software is available for Mac OS and Windows for saving and editing your programs.
Featuring full programmability, a 100% analog signal path, and a legendary Curtis analog low-pass filter, this Mopho delivers that classic analog sound anyone will enjoy. All tucked away in a super-affordable and compact 7.5” X 5” package, this synth makes this an ideal expansion solution to any music performance and production rig. The Mopho is perfect for those who want to learn their way around professional analog synthesis without dropping a fortune; DJ’s looking to add some flavor to their routine as well as musicians in want of a versatile, pocket synth will also be psyched by the Mopho.
